This exhibition brings together many of the East London Group’s most iconic pieces, some of which have not been seen in public for more than eighty years plus a few which have only come to light in recent weeks, months or years since interest in the Group was rekindled by David Buckman’s book: “From Bow to Biennale”.
PRIVATE VIEWING - The Working Artist: The East London Group
The Working Artist will showcase works from the celebrated East London Group, including works by B. A. R. Carter, William Coldstream, John Cooper, Elwin Hawthorne, Cecil Osborne, Brynhild Parker, the Steggles brothers and Albert Turpin, accompanied by a series of newly commissioned public artworks on and around Bow Road from Lindsey Mendick, Marcus Orlandi and Maxima Smith.
EXHIBITION - The Working Artist: The East London Group
Curated by writer broadcaster Michael Rosen and radio producer and film-maker Emma-Louise Williams, the show celebrates a wealth of previously unexhibited material, shedding light on the characters behind the paintings.
